“Why Sustainability of Built Environment is still under achieved? What is the real threat that even scarier than the pandemic COVID-19? PART-2

continuation from the first part: PART 1

Information Age apocalypse

As technology emerge and new kinds of jobs started to invent at the other side of the coin, artificial intelligence affects people how interact on his or her built environment. Advance countries where infrastructure for developing new types of technology to help the mobility of people living in the city is also a crucial factor. Driver less and electric cars started to mass produce making built environment much higher active than ever before.

This has a good and awful effects. Mass scale development that needed land use conversion can be controlled or uncontrolled because of people will chose to work near at their homes. These scenarios produced issues on how built environment and future planning principles.

Open spaces are now started to be controlled and available to high income classes. Investors started to become aggressive wherein built environment and economic activity makes mixed collaborative effects. In any case, technological planning will make a sustainable response to certain issues is the biggest segment if it is mis-interpreting and mismanage.

Traditional theory states the loss of public open spaces brings about less water Infiltration into the ground which also breathable spaces where water and dampness should be present in cities and sub urban communities. The nature of our water is decreased because of overflow, drainage, squander/poisons, and groundwater release which are all the consequence of the fabricated conditions as people increase productivity in their daily lives.

But what if the professional sector continually failed to make a huge transformation at these traditional concepts? Not knowingly the macro and micro built environment and the people where they live to has in stake. Technology is fast approaching, urban planning principles at some point failed to adapt and catch up at these smart and rapid advancements. Traditionally, Planners need at least 10 years to build a city however as information age approaches, the landscape starts to change.

Planners’ crystal balls are now in obsolete terms if these sectors failed to realize. Real Estate developments marching to build and serve the economic activity. Environmentalists on the middles side of the coin are one of the major sector to make sustainability and technology acts in parallel behavior however the approaches will remain insufficient and will stay only as an alternative as long as the planning sector in the information age belongs to the government jurisdictions.

Huge lags of change are undeniably present in the public sector in 3rd world countries. They act like a dinosaur slowly reacting to the need for a radical change in planning and development.

Sustainability in the built environment maybe in reach but we need to constantly reach and catch the phase. Technology has an undeniably good effect yet growing pains on every people especially the poor and the middle class used to go to public parks: Luneta Park, Picnic grove in Tagaytay to relax and unwind but today everything was changed-the new relaxation is shopping, dining and walking at supermalls as emerging issues takes in place.
